The Cave B Inn and Spa – Celebrating 5 Years of Marriage

The Cave B Inn and Spa was where we spent our 5 year wedding anniversary. It was absolutely amazing. Hopefully you’ll be inspired by this story to stay a weekend there yourself.

Begin story…

Time was running out. I needed to secure a trip somewhere to celebrate our 5 Year Anniversary. I was looking at Austin, TX, the Oregon Coast, Las Vegas, Los Cabos (Mexico), parts of eastern Washington and more. The criteria? We needed a place that was really sunny and warm because, to be blunt, we got screwed out of our usual nice Seattle summer this year.

The drive up. So inviting… look at the trees.

We had never really explored the eastern part of Washington in the 8-9 years we’ve been living up here. Having heard stories of the “dry” side of Washington State being beautiful through the end of October, I starting looking at wineries and bed and breakfast-type places. I’m not sure how I stumbled upon the Cave B Inn and Spa but after looking extensively at their website, I ended up booking us two nights in their fancy Yurts (a glorified Indian Teepee with a bed, sofa, bathroom, shower etc.). Unfortunately yurts were all they had available on the weekend of September 23. Still, I went ahead and pulled the trigger. I would soon surprise Lindsey with the fact that we were going to be “glamping” (glamorous camping) at a winery two and a half hours east of Seattle. What happened next is an example of customer service at its best.

The pool was awesome. Just what we needed after Seattle’s lame ’11 Summer.

The week before we were to go to the Cave B, I emailed them asking if I could secure the best view in the house (of course I said in the email it was our 5 Year Anniversary). Less than 24 hours later, I received an email back from them saying that they had “secured the BEST view for me” and they had signed the email with ‘Happy Anniversary!’ Low and behold, when we got there to check-in, I was shocked to find out that we had been either directly or indirectly upgraded to a Cavern Room and no additional charge. To add, the price of the room (with a gorgeous view of The Gorge) was even cheaper than what I was expecting to pay for the two nights in the Yurt!

They had left us in our room while we were at the pool.

The Cave B Inn and Spa is right next to The Gorge Amphitheater just outside of Quincy, WA. The estate itself is beautiful. As part of the hotel/yurt accommodations you are encouraged to borrow one of the many beach cruiser bikes they have available to tour the vineyard. Lindsey and I took a set of them and pedaled around. It was a lot of fun. They also have a very friendly “hotel” dog named Cuvee who hangs out in the hotel lobby. She definitely adds to the charm of Cave B and I later found out she was named after one of the wines from the vineyard: Cuvée du Soleil.

The room’s patio allows for a “Grand Canyon” like view of The Gorge.

I could go on and on. In short, this was a most memorable anniversary weekend and Lindsey and I would highly recommend the Cave B Inn and Spa to all!
